Snowdrops symbol of Martisor Romania

Martisor

You probably haven't heard of Martisor, unless you are from Romania.

It is a Romanian authentic tradition existing since ancient times, held on March 1st to mark and celebrate the beginning of spring and rejuvenation of nature.

The name is a diminutive of the month's name and means literally "little March".

The symbols of this day are the snowdrops and the red-white string and are usually given by men to women as a symbol of love and respect. 💐

The string is worn by women either pinned to their clothes attached to different creative forms of art or simply around the wrist or neck.
Happy Spring!

P.S. Even in Montreal, the awesome sunny day makes it feel like spring is near. Let's be optimistic, it's coming!
